Contents & Personal Property Restoration FAQ's
A: When evaluating furniture, we look at 2 things: (1) condition and (2) value. We use a number of techniques, processes and products to either clean, semi-refinish, or refinish your furniture, depending on the condition. However, if the cost to restore a piece is higher than the value or the same as the replacement cost (depending on your insurance coverage), then we will mark the item to be replaced instead of restored. This list is then supplied to the insurance company for reimbursement to the insured.
A: During the course of evaluating and processing your contents, we will be creating a list of non-salvageable items. The insurance company will then reimburse for these items as allowed by your insurance policy.
A: We can pick up your clothing from the affected building. Simply leave it where it is. It may take 3-4 weeks to complete the process. In the meantime, you can set aside clothes that you need quickly and we will expedite them.
A: Industry practice is to dispose of any food, cosmetics, etc., that go ON or IN your body, if they have been exposed to smoke from a fire. The smoke contains many harmful chemical compounds. Give us a call and we can help walk you through the process and answer any questions you have.
